4 Small Goals to a Healthier Life

Article by Dr. Sid Solomon

While most people think that the best way to achieve better health is to make drastic changes, nothing can be further from the truth.

The problem with making these huge changes is the fact that they can be very overwhelming and people give up before they begin because they don’t know where or how to start.

For that reason, it’s a good idea to begin with small changes. That said, here are 4 goals that can lead you to a healthier life:

#1: Create a pre-sleep routine

If you find it difficult to sleep at night, then it’s time to create a pre-sleep routine. You can either read a book, do a few relaxation exercises or even take a bath. Also ensure the room you sleep in is slightly cool and switch your computer off.

#2: Stop eating before you are full

On a scale of one to ten, with ten being you feeling full, make sure you stay at five or six. Concentrate fully on your food or snack and eat as slowly as possible. Using smaller plates or bowls will definitely help too.

#3: Watch what you drink

Make sure you watch what you drink especially sodas or other beverages that add to your daily calorie intake but do not make you feel any fuller. Studies have shown that sodas contributes to a wider waistline. So, make sure you stick with water or unsweetened coffee or tea.

#4: Interval training is the key

Interval training requires you to complete your workout in the shortest period of time. This will not only improve your cardiovascular health but also burn fat while also increasing one’s endurance as well. What you also need to keep in mind is that a warm-up and cool-down routine has to be added as well.
